‌Carburizers are mainly divided into the following categories‌:‌
‌Artificial graphite carburizer‌: This is the best quality carburizer. The main raw material is powdered high-quality calcined petroleum coke, with asphalt added as a binder, and graphitized after high-temperature treatment. Artificial graphite carburizer is suitable for casting and smelting processes with high requirements.

‌Petroleum coke carburizer‌: Petroleum coke is a by-product of refined crude oil. After coking, raw petroleum coke is obtained. Raw petroleum coke needs to be calcined to remove impurities before it can be used as a carburizer. Petroleum coke carburizers are widely used, but their sulfur and metal content should be noted.

‌Natural graphite carburizer‌: Natural graphite is divided into flake graphite and microcrystalline graphite. Medium carbon graphite in flake graphite is often used as a carburizer, but the output is limited. Natural graphite carburizer is suitable for steel mills, but not for foundries.

‌Coke and anthracite recarburizer‌: Coke or anthracite is often used as a recarburizer in the process of electric arc furnace steelmaking, but due to the high ash and volatile matter, it is rarely used in induction furnace smelting cast iron.

‌Composite recarburizer‌: This type of recarburizer uses waste materials such as graphite powder, coke powder, petroleum coke, etc., and adds a binder to press and form. Composite recarburizers are cheap, but the sulfur content is unstable.

‌Uses and characteristics of recarburizer‌:

Recarburizer plays an important role in the process of steel smelting and casting, and is mainly used to make up for the carbon content burned during the smelting process. It can not only increase the carbon content of steel, but also improve the mechanical properties of castings, such as tensile strength, hardness and wear resistance. Different types of recarburizers have their own characteristics in raw materials, production processes and performance, and are suitable for different casting processes and casting requirements.
