Artificial graphite can be divided into many types according to different classification standards, and each type has its own unique application fields and characteristics.
Classification by grain size:
Microcrystalline graphite: Made of high-temperature pyrolytic graphitized organic materials, it has the characteristics of small grain size and low porosity, and is mainly used in electrode materials, crystal substrates and composite materials.
Ultrafine graphite: The grain size is between tens and hundreds of nanometers, with high specific surface area and excellent electrochemical properties. It is widely used in lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors, hydrogen storage materials and coatings.
Classification by purity and use:
High-purity graphite: Made through multiple heat treatments and chemical treatments, it has high thermal stability, low solubility and high thermal conductivity, and is suitable for electronics, semiconductors, optoelectronics and aerospace.
Polycrystalline graphite: Prepared by high-temperature graphitization reaction, it has a large grain size and high porosity, and is mainly used for the processing and casting of graphite materials, such as graphite molds, heating bodies and crucibles.
Classification by preparation method and application field:
Graphite electrode class: Mainly used in steelmaking, silicon smelting and yellow phosphorus smelting, etc., according to different current densities, it can be divided into ordinary power, high power and higher power electrodes.
Graphite anode class: Used as conductive anode of electrolytic equipment in electrochemical industry, suitable for various chemical uses.
Special graphite class: Used in aerospace, electronics and nuclear industries, including spectrally pure graphite, high strength and high density graphite, etc.
Graphite heat exchanger: Heat exchange equipment used in the chemical industry, including plugged hole heat exchanger, radial heat exchanger, etc.
Non-standard products class: Various special-shaped graphite products, such as shovel anode, fluoride anode and various specifications of crucibles, plates, rods, blocks, etc.
Impermeable graphite class: Special-shaped graphite products processed by impregnation with resin and organic matter, used to make base blocks of heat exchangers, etc.
These classifications help us better understand the diversity of artificial graphite and its application value in different industrial fields. With the development of materials science and manufacturing technology, more new artificial graphite materials will appear in the future.
