PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

Calcined Petroleum Coke:

When using graphite electrodes for steelmaking or anode paste (melting electrode) for aluminum and magnesium production, in order to adapt petroleum coke (raw coke) to the requirements, it is necessary to calcine the raw coke. The calcination temperature is generally around 1300 ℃, with the aim of removing as much volatile matter as possible from petroleum coke. This can reduce the hydrogen content of petroleum coke recycled products, increase the degree of graphitization of petroleum coke, thereby improving the high-temperature strength and heat resistance of graphite electrodes, and improving the conductivity of graphite electrodes. Calcined coke is mainly used in the production of graphite electrodes, carbon paste products, diamond sand, food grade phosphorus industry, metallurgical industry, and calcium carbide, among which graphite electrodes are the most widely used. Raw coke can be directly used as the main material for calcium carbide without calcination, producing silicon carbide and boron carbide as grinding materials. It can also be directly used as coke for metallurgical industry blast furnaces or as lining carbon bricks for blast furnace walls, and can also be used as dense coke for casting processes.

Calcined petroleum coke has a wide range of applications in multiple industries. ‌‌

Carbon industry: Calcined petroleum coke is mainly used for carbon paste products such as aluminum carbon, graphite electrodes, graphite anodes, carbon electrodes, carbon anodes, and carbon refractory materials. In addition, it is also used for high-purity graphite, graphite products, and graphite chemical equipment.

Steelmaking industry: During the steelmaking process, calcined petroleum coke is used as the main raw material for carbonization and foaming agents, which helps to improve the quality of steel.

Chemical industry: In the chemical industry, calcined petroleum coke is used to produce basic chemical raw materials such as sodium hydride and high-purity carbon monoxide (CO).

Mechanical industry: Calcined petroleum coke is also used as an important raw material for manufacturing mechanical seals and other components.

The production process of calcined petroleum coke involves calcining the raw coke at a high temperature of about 1400 ℃ to remove volatile components, increase the degree of graphitization, enhance its high-temperature strength and heat resistance, and improve electrical conductivity.
